Our organization’s membership is interested in Poland and it’s people. Every year several of our interested members spend two weeks in Poland conversing with the teenagers and adult students in English in the City of Rzeszow, Poland (which is one of Buffalo’s Sister Cities). Pomost volunteers prepare a cirriculum and workshops that focus on American culture, politics, varied customs, crafts etc. All of which we bring to Poland during the summer.

The Pomost International program remains the longest and strongest link between Buffalo and Rzeszow. As technologies continue to improve, and various social media allow us to communicate with friends in other countries, the world seems smaller, and the barriers of time and place no longer exist. We in Buffalo have a proud history of living up to our city’s motto, “Buffalo, The City of Good Neighbors.” Pomost reaches out in friendship to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation. In a world, unfortunately, with outbreaks of terrorism, cooperating and sharing with others is more important than ever.
